Frequent Asked Questiones About KingPass

HOW TO USE

Q: Does KingPass send something out from my computer?

A: No! Absolutely NO .KingPass is a software to store and manage passwords for you, NOT a virus or Trojan horse , if you don't enable image background in your configuration of KingPass(Image background can be enabled only in registered version), you need not be connected to Internet when use KingPass. Using KingPass to manage your passwords is only safe and safer!

Q: How do I remove Kingpass from my computer?

A: Run the UNWISE.EXE uninstaller utility that you will find in the same directory as Kingpass. If you are running Windows 95, 98, ME or NT 4.0/2000, you will also find the uninstaller by clicking on "Start > Programs > Kingpass > Uninstall".

Q:How can I login KingPass?

A: When Kingpass starts up , it will pop up a box for you to login :IF it's the FIRST time that you run KingPass, PLEASE input master for Account and kingpass for password, and click the OK button. IF it's not the first time that you run KingPass, PLEASE input any account you've created along with it's password , and click the OK button.

Q: How many passwords can I put into your program? I have LOTS of passwords...over 300! Can I put more than 300 passwords into your password database?

A: Theoretically you can have approx. 16,000 passwords. The limit is based upon your computer's memory. However, with most PCs these days coming with 128mb of RAM, this 16,000 limit is virtually guaranteed. Therefore, you do not have to worry about running out of room in Kingpass. 300 passwords is a small amount of the 16,000 limit that is available to you.

Q: After I send you my payment for your product, will that annoying registration button still there? I sure hate to keep being reminded to pay for this program.

A: When we receive your payment, you will be mailed a password key that will remove the "annoying" button. You will not be reminded to pay for the program, since you have already paid for the program! You will have to live with the "annoying" button, however, until your password key arrives in the mail.

Q: When I come to a site that wants my password and username can Kingpass automatically fill in the blank fields for me?

A: The answer is 'yes' and 'no'. If you click Kingpass's menu and choose "Copy" the password on the current line will be copied to the Windows clipboard. You can then ALT+TAB switch to your Web browser and press CTRL+V to paste the password into the corresponding password field. To copy a field other than the "Password" field, place your mouse cursor over the field you wish to copy, then double click it. The text in the cell will highlight. Then click the right mouse button, and choose "Copy".You can then ALT+TAB switch to your Web browser and press CTRL+V to paste the selected field into the corresponding field, also.

Q: Is there any way to conceal my passwords so as to prevent a colleague sneaking up behind me at my desk at work and seeing my passwords?

A: Of course you can.Simply click the "eye" button when inquire a password item, the password edit box will be too small to be sneaked.

Q: How do I make a backup copy of my passwords. I am worried about if my hard drive were to fail, I would lose my password database.

A: Making backups of important data is very smart. The Backup button is designed for this purpose. If you wish to make a backup of just the password database, click it and then save the data of your account to a 3.5" diskette. You will then be covered in case your hard disk crashes.

Q: Can I share Kingpass with my famliy or colleague?

A: Of course you can .Kingpass support multiaccounts. Every one can have his own accounts and passwords, secure and reliable.

Q: Can users of other accounts access my password items?

A: Definitely NOT. If you don't share your passwords with others, no one can see your password items!

Q: Can I share my registrtion number with others?

A: Yes, you can . But we don't recommend this, because after your registration, you reg number will be take as a encryption seed number for your Kingpass. Sharing it with others will make your data less safe.

Q: Can I delete useless account, I want to reserve more disk space.

A: Sorry to say you can't delete any account that has been created, even it seems that they are "useless", because Kingpass utilizes a mechanism called "across certification", every account has its own part of the certifivcation information. But if you think useless accounts waste too much space of your disk , you can delete all the password items in it, and then it will take only 30 bytes in your computer, which means 0.003 percents of a 1.44M floppy disk :) .

Q: Can I restore my backup data myself ?

A: The answer is "Yes " and "No". Since there are cross-certification informations in your account's data file, restore means reconstruct the CCI. But to our depression, CCI can be reconstructed only be KIBase ,the vendor of Kingpass, so if you would like restore your backup data, PLEASE write a email to support@kibase.com and give us your account name. But if you really want to restore you data by yourself , please follow these steps:

1.rename your backup file to your accounts name, eg. if your account name is John , then rename your backup file to John.kip , and then

2.copy it to the data directory where your kingpass locates, and restore is OK. But from now on your accounts can never be cross_certificated and may be less safe.

Q: Do you have more suggestion about using Kingpass?

A: Of course!

First, there are some tips of using password to share with you:

1)Use long passwords , don't take any string like "12345" or "abc" as your password

2)Change your password periodically, don't use the same password for all the time

3)Don't use the same password for different accounts

4)use your own rule in your passwords. eg, if you take 2589 as your password , you can put it as 1478 in Kingpass and in the Memo field , note down: plus 1.

5)use invisible char ,such as the BLANK SPACE key in your password, this is also an effective way to prevent your password from sneaking up.

6)you can use Kingpass to store more things such as telphone numbers other than password , right?
